The Soulshine Festival

If you're a fan of musician, poet, and social activist the two-day "Soulshine Festival" is for you. "Soulshine Festival" will take place at Green School with Michael Franti & Spearhead headlining the event. The music and environmental festival is dedicated to sustainability for Bali and the world and will raise funds for Bumi Sehat, a natural birthing clinic in Bali. Funds raised will also be contributed to the Green School's Indonesian Scholarship Fund, which provides free education for Indonesian children.

12th Kuta Karnival

"Makepung" (Buffalo Racing)

"Makepung" buffalo race is very famous and only take place no other places than in West Bali. The buffalo pulls up the wooden square cart with wooden tires and the jockey push the buffalo to run as fast as possible. "Makepung" is usually held after harvesting time, regarding that Jembrana District is known as an agricultural region with highly cooperative-spirited community.

Nyepi (Day of Silence)

Nyepi is a Balinese "Day of Silence" that is commemorated every Isakawarsa (Saka new year) according to the Balinese calendar (in 2014, it falls on March 31). It is a Hindu celebration mainly celebrated in Bali, Indonesia. Nyepi, a public holiday in Indonesia, is a day of silence, fasting and meditation for the Balinese. The day following Nyepi is also celebrated as New Year's Day. The same day celebrated in India as ugadi.

The Bali Kite Festival

The Bali Kite Festival is an annual international kite festival held in July in Padang Galak area, Sanur Beach, Bali. Traditional giant kites (4 metres in width and almost 10 metres in length) are made and flown competitively by teams from the villages (banjar) of Denpasar. The event is a seasonal religious festival intended to send a message to the Hindu Gods to create abundant crops and harvests.

Galungan and Kuningan Ceremonies in Bali

Galungan and Kuningan are Balinese celebratings the victory of dharma "Good" over adharma "Evil Force". It marks the time when the ancestral spirits visit the Earth. The last day of the celebration is Kuningan, when they return. The date is calculated according to the 210 day of Bali calendar. Galungan marks the beginning of the most important recurring religious ceremonies.
