Surf competitions in Bali

Bali is perhaps the best known island in Indonesia, being a 'dream' destination with names such Padang Padang and Uluwatu with its famous entry cave. Bali gets the full force of southern ocean swells direct from the antarctic with its south-west and south-east coasts being littered with surf spots. The dry winter months (June-Sept) are preferred for surf conditions however this means that these are also the most crowded times.

"Ngaben" Cremation Ceremony

Ngaben, or Cremation Ceremony, is a funeral ritual performed in Bali to send the deceased to the next life. The body of the deceased will be placed as if sleeping, and the family will continue to treat the deceased as sleeping. No tears are shed, because the deceased is only temporarily absent and will reincarnate or find final rest in Moksha (freeing from the reincarnation and death cycle).

The Soulshine Festival

If you're a fan of musician, poet, and social activist the two-day "Soulshine Festival" is for you. "Soulshine Festival" will take place at Green School with Michael Franti & Spearhead headlining the event. The music and environmental festival is dedicated to sustainability for Bali and the world and will raise funds for Bumi Sehat, a natural birthing clinic in Bali. Funds raised will also be contributed to the Green School's Indonesian Scholarship Fund, which provides free education for Indonesian children.
